Why Your Calendar is Your Boss

Why Your Calendar is Your Boss
If you don't control your schedule, it controls you. Strategies for aggressive time-blocking.
Show me your calendar, and I'll tell you your priorities. Most people's calendars are a Swiss cheese of 30-minute gaps—too short to do deep work, too long to do nothing. If you don't ruthlessly defend your time, someone else will happily spend it for you.
Defensive Scheduling
You must treat your calendar like a fortress. The modern workspace is a siege of notifications and "quick syncs."

🛡️
Block "Deep Work" First
Put it in for 8am-11am. Do not let anyone steal your prime brain hours. Treat these blocks as immutable appointments with yourself.

📅
Batch Meetings
Do all admin on Tuesday/Thursday afternoons. Keep Monday/Wednesday sacred. Context switching is the enemy of productivity.

The Power of "No"
If a meeting doesn't have an agenda, decline it. If you aren't a decision maker, decline it. Normalize 'No' as a complete sentence.
